MAYOR AND COMMISSIONERS

Mike Brown was elected Mayor for the City of Weatherford beginning January 1, 2004. Prior to becoming Mayor, Mike served as City Commissioner for 3 terms beginning in April 1996. He is the owner of American Insurance Group, an independent Life and Health Insurance Company. He is a graduate of Weatherford High School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a degree in Business Education and Administration. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist Church, and Kiwanis Club where he was a Distinguished President and Lieutenant Governor. Mike has been active with youth programs serving in the past as President of the Weatherford Quarterback Club, the Tip-In Club, and the Track Booster Club.

 

Rick Miller began serving on the City Commission for Ward I on January 8, 2004. He is a graduate of Cordell High School and Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Rick is a co-owner of the local accounting firm of Britton, Kuykendall & Miller, CPA’s. He is a member of the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Rick is a member of Pine Acres Church where he has served as Sunday School teacher, youth sponsor, building committee chairman, treasurer, trustee, and moderator. He is also actively involved in various youth activities and organizations within the community.

 

Joe E. Johns began serving on the City Commission for Ward II January 31, 2008.  He is a graduate of Hydro Public School and received his Bachelor of Joe E. JohnsScience Degree in Business Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State College.  After receiving his degree, Joe had a career in the Property & Casualty Insurance Business in Claims Administration.  He is a past officer of the Weatherford Industrial Trust, a member of the Weather Area Economic Development Foundation, and the Weatherford Area Chamber of Commerce.  Joe and his wife Glenna are members of Pine Acres Church, where he serves in leadership, as well as at the national level for the Mennonite Brethren Denomination.  Joe and his wife are owners of Johns’ Rental Properties and Heritage Farms.
 
 
 
 
 Warren Goldmann began serving on the City Commission for Ward III September 30, 2002. After the election, he was appointed to serve the remainder of Randy Switzer’s term. Warren served until December 31, 2008. He was re-elected and sworn in December 31, 2012. He previously served on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Economic Development Committee. In 2005, Warren became the city’s first certified elected official. He also served on the Municipal League’s Legislative Committee. Warren owned and operated a retail store for over 30 years. He currently owns Goldmann’s Electric, Goldmann’s Chimney Care and Western Property Management. Warren has served as an adult and children Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Awana Spark and Cubbies leader. He is a member of First Baptist church where he is an assistant Sunday School Teacher. Warren is also a volunteer engineer for KAYM, Weatherford’s American Family Radio Station. He is a member of the Chamber of Commerce.
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

Joe Merchant began serving on the City Commission for Ward IV on April 29, 1980. He is also the Vice-Mayor, a position he began holding April 30, 1987. A 1956 graduate of Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Joe is a CPA and the owner of an accounting and income tax practice. He is a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Prairie West Golf Course. He is a member of First Baptist Church where he serves as Deacon and Church Treasurer, a post he has held since 1974
